On what should be the proudest day in our recent political history, I am confused. How can Californians overwhelmingly vote for Barack Obama, yet not crush Proposition 8. Why were voters able to look past the color of Obama's skin and vote for the character of the man, then... turn the page of their ballots and vote to discriminate against all gays and lesbians in our state. Who are these people? The Los Angeles Times just published a report that states upwards of 70% of blacks voted to oppose gay marriage. Wow.Maybe those people misunderstood MLK, Jr to say... I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by their sexual orientation.
One giant step forward, and a big stumble backwards.
